OSAC, created by the Legislature in 1959, coordinates a variety of state, federal, and privately funded student financial aid programs for the benefit of more than 50,000 Oregonians attending institutions of postsecondary education. For the current 2003 - 2004 academic year, OSAC awarded $9.8 million to students through privately funded scholarships and $17.3 million to low-income students through the state-funded Oregon Opportunity Grant.
