Naturopathy degree programs
There is increasing interest in naturopathy education. There is also an increase in the number of providers of substandard or completely bogus “degrees” in naturopathy. As of January, 2002, the State of Oregon recognizes degrees in naturopathic medicine from ONLY the following institutions:
- National College of Naturopathic Medicine (Oregon)
- Bastyr University (Washington)
- Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (Arizona)
- University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine (Connecticut)
So-called naturopathic “degrees” from other U.S. or Canadian institutions are invalid for use in Oregon and such use is a violation of Oregon law. Holders of degrees from foreign institutions may inquire to determine whether such degrees are legal for use in Oregon. Such degrees must at a minimum be approved by the appropriate national agency within the country of origin in order to be considered for approval.
